Overview

Believe it or not, this thing is a real, working portable vaporizer! I wasn’t sure what to expect when trying it, although I really like this thing. The iolite is perfect for travel, obviously, but it’s also nice to pass around to friends for quick hits.

The iolite is made by Oglesby & Butler, an Irish company with over 25 years making portable heating products. I’m glad they decided to build this little thing, it’s genius!

How Does it Work?

The iolite Vaporizer is powered by butane gas, which it uses a small (wee) amount to create a charge which allows for 2 hours of continuous vaporization.

The iolite Vaporizer uses a patented “flame-less” gas catalytic heater and thermostat to vaporize your herb. The thermostat is Bi-Metal, something like the Volcano uses, capable to holding temperatures of 374° F / 190° C.

Don’t worry, it’s completely safe. The butane conversion takes place within a separate chamber, making it impossible to inhale the vapors.

It takes about 7-9 minutes or so to become ready to use. Then simply fill the herb tray with herb that’s been finely ground. Next begin drawing air through the inhalation tube with nice deep, steady breaths.

I have had my iolite vaporizer for a couple months now. I wanted it so when I go camping or hiking I could still vaporizer weed. I was glad I didn’t have to use batteries, so the butane works perfect. It actually does a great job at vaporizing weed too!

So far so good with my iolite. I bought the pink model I find its easy to fill with butane and to use. Nice and clean hits. I see you mention to wait 7+ minutes, although I find mine’s ready to go after around 4. I would recommend the iolite vaporizer to anyone.
